A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
Time flies, and we’re already deep into another action-packed month at Krea! From Synergy 2025 — where leading academics, policymakers and industry leaders came together to shape data-driven solutions for pressing challenges — to stimulating discussions like Beyond the Billions, which united both schools to unpack the highlights of the Union Budget 2025, the past weeks have been a whirlwind of milestones. Adding to the vibrancy were creative activities by various clubs and committees.
The momentum continues with an exciting mix of events ahead. The Office of Student Life (OSL) is setting the stage for a month-long celebration of India’s rich artistic heritage through performances, workshops and interactive sessions.
Meanwhile, the Moturi Satyanarayana Centre for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences is curating insightful conversations through its ongoing Postdoctoral Colloquium. These discussions delve into some of today’s most pressing topics. And that’s just the beginning — there’s plenty more to look forward to!

What began as a simple getaway on 8 and 9 February 2025 turned into an exhilarating adventure of missed trains, unexpected detours and thrilling discoveries. A missed train to Ponneri led us to buses and finally to Pulicat town, where we struggled to find a boat to an elusive island. As the sun set, an old boatman agreed to take us across the golden waters of Pulicat Lagoon, nestled between India’s second-largest lake and the Bay of Bengal. Under a starlit sky, we shared stories, feasted and revelled in the thrill of the unknown. As dawn broke, we brewed tea, cooked Maggi, and embraced the ocean’s embrace before reluctantly returning. A final stop at a 16th-century Dutch cemetery reminded us of the region’s rich history before we journeyed back, hearts full of memories. More than just a trip, this was an escape into adventure — one we’ll cherish for years to come!

Capture the Flag has been a Krea classic for three years, and on 8 February 2025, the event reached a new level of excitement. Now one of HerCampus's flagship events — after taking the reins from the Sports Club — the day showcased intense batch-versus-batch rivalries, featuring careful strategising, fast-paced chases, and suspenseful moments. This year's Capture the Flag added a fresh twist to the legacy event, with the senior batch fighting to keep their winning streak alive while the junior batch aimed to make Krea history by dethroning the reigning champions. With the battle spreading from the basketball court to the cricket field and over 40 participants taking part, it was one of the largest and most spirited clashes Krea has ever seen. Although the showdown ended in a draw, the energy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on the campus — only time will tell what surprises next year's Capture the Flag will bring.
